It is heartening that Nell’s family is coming out, bit by bit, from under the Church’s edicts. It’s damned sad that Nell is so overwhelmed that a man could simply care about her well-being. Oooh, Nell is on her third date with Occam! And we know everything that’s happening - provided it’s what Nell is experiencing, as Hunter is using first person protagonist point-of-view.
